The financial landscape of Moyamba is set for a significant boost as a new community bank officially opens its doors to the public on Thursday, 9th October 2025. The bank, which blends the accessibility of a community bank with the full capabilities of a commercial institution, aims to make banking services more inclusive and responsive to the needs of individuals, businesses, and organizations across the district and beyond.
The new institution will offer a range of financial services, including current and savings accounts, personal and business loans, and a variety of credit facilities tailored to support local entrepreneurs, farmers, and small businesses. In addition, the bank is also open to community members interested in purchasing shares, fostering a sense of ownership and local participation in the district’s economic growth.
Operating hours will run from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., providing convenient access for customers throughout the week.
Speaking during Heart FM’s flagship program District Tok, Professor Alieu M. Bah, Chairman of the Board of Directors, highlighted the significance of the bank’s launch, describing it as a major milestone for Moyamba’s economic development.
“The bank is here to stay and serve the people of Moyamba and beyond,” Professor Bah stated. “We want to bring financial services closer to the people, support local businesses, and ensure that everyone—from market women to professionals—has access to the tools they need to grow and succeed.”
