U.S. Ambassador to Sierra Leone Bryan David Hunt Visits Moyamba to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Moyamba, Sierra Leone — The United States Ambassador to Sierra Leone Bryan David Hunt has paid a diplomatic visit to Moyamba District, marking yet another step in strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
During his one-day visit, the Ambassador met with Joseph B. Gbogba, Chairman of the Moyamba District Council, where they discussed key areas of collaboration aimed at supporting local governance and development initiatives in the district. The meeting emphasized the importance of continued U.S. support in fostering transparent and accountable governance structures at the district level.
As part of efforts to encourage inclusive political dialogue and democratic stability, the Ambassador also held separate meetings with representatives of the two main political parties in Sierra Leone—the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) and the All People’s Congress (APC). These discussions centered around focus on peacebuilding, fair participation, and the shared responsibility of political actors in preserving national unity.

The Ambassador concluded his visit with a meeting at the Civil Society Organization (CSO) Secretariat in Moyamba. Here, he engaged with civil society leaders on matters relating to civic engagement, human rights, and local advocacy efforts including local service delivery. The dialogue reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to supporting the role of CSOs in promoting democracy and good governance in Sierra Leone.
